Shiatsu
• What is Shiatsu?
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, energy (Qi) flows through the body through the Meridians. In an ideal world, this circulation is fluid and constant, guaranteeing inner balance and good health. But it is not always so and internal and external disturbances such as stress, emotions, various and varied pollutions come to slow down or block this flow of energy, causing pain, insomnia, illnesses…
Shiatsu proposes by finger pressure (often thumbs) on acupuncture points, by gentle mobilizations of the joints, by stretching to remove these blockages and thus activate the self-healing and self-regeneration capacity of organism (the famous Medicatrix naturae of Hippocrates) and attempt to achieve homeostasis (natural balance).

• How does a Shiatsu session take place?
A session lasts about 1 hour. A preliminary interview defines your expectations, your current physical and emotional state, the parts of the body to be treated with more insistence, those to be treated more gently or not to be treated at all.
Traditionally, Shiatsu is practiced on a Futon, with the person being massaged remaining dressed in soft, comfortable clothing.
It is imperative not to have consumed alcohol or narcotics before a session.
The care offered is not intended to replace medical treatment and should not delay a medical consultation.
At the end of the session, I can suggest simple stretching, relaxation and breathing exercises, as well as nutritional advice, depending on the season and the reason for the consultation.
• Therapeutic Shiatsu
Did you know ? Since May 29, 1997, Shiatsu has been listed in European Parliament resolution A4-0075/97 as “unconventional medicine worthy of interest”.
In addition to the well-being sessions, I also offer therapeutic support, particularly in connection with the female cycle: pre-menopause and menopause disorders, painful periods, endometriosis, fertility support, pregnancy ailments, post-natal period .
I also accompany you in rheumatological and digestive diseases, in the reduction of side effects linked to chemotherapy.
The number and frequency of sessions will be defined according to the pathology and the evolution of symptoms.
More and more mutual insurance companies are reimbursing the cost of shiatsu sessions, so check with your own.
Massage with oils or Gokan
• Amma seated massage
The Amma massage is a massage originally developed in Japan, but made famous in the 80s in the United States by David Palmer who made it the corporate massage par excellence. Steve Jobs was one of the first Silicon Valley entrepreneurs to use his services at Apple’s premises.
It is performed in a seated position on a comfortable ergonomic chair, on a clothed person, and lasts about 20 minutes.
This technique uses pressure on specific points, stretching, percussion on the back, shoulders, neck, skull, arms and hands. It is very effective in combating tension and pain accumulated in these areas, improves blood circulation, stimulates the immune system and brings immediate relaxation by quickly eliminating stress.
Its ease of implementation and its efficiency make it an ideal tool for companies or events.

The workshops
• Dô’in Workshops
Dô In is an oriental health practice that uses self-massage.
It consists of using breathing, stretching and pressure techniques on acupuncture points to stimulate the main functions of the body: breathing, blood circulation, digestion, the nervous system and energy.
The Dô In helps to prevent and restore the dysfunctions of the organism related to a bad circulation of the body energy.
This technique is based on the concept of acupuncture meridians.
Accessible to all, it helps to circulate energy in the body and to self-regulate it, it optimizes the functions of the body, helps to maintain its well-being, its health and its vitality, contributes to finding relaxation and inner calm.
The 1.5-hour workshops will introduce you to the basics of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with an emphasis on the current season. Exercises will be offered to you in connection with this season. Finally, you will leave with a “first aid kit” of acupuncture points to relieve the daily sores. Comfortable clothing is recommended. The maximum number of participants is set at 10, by reservation.
For corporate workshops, do not hesitate to contact me for a tailor-made offer.

The therapist
- Émilie Raffort
Originally from Méribel, I grew up with this magnificent and powerful nature. It is important in my life for my balance and vitality.
In addition, animals have always held a privileged place for me and it is through equine Shiatsu that I discovered this discipline. It is naturally that I continued with human Shiatsu by holding the professional certification “Shiatsu Specialist”. I am also a member of the Francophone Union of Therapeutic Shiatsu Professionals and the French Federation of Traditional Shiatsu.
Regular training courses enable me to refine my practice and accompany you at specific times and on specific themes:
- Female cycle, Shiatsu and motherhood – The postnatal period: Supporting the mother-baby bond with Suzanne Yates
- Shiatsu and cardiology with Ivan Bel.
What seduced me in this practice is that it is very complete by combining Traditional Chinese Medicine, energy, anatomy and physiology. It takes care of the body as much as the mind.
Curious, and with the desire to offer complementary approaches around well-being, relaxation and self-knowledge, I trained in oil massage (or Gokan massage) as well as the Niromathé® method ( Soft technique used to relieve pain and acute or chronic blockages. It is inspired by the gestures practiced by ancient bonesetters in India and the West).
I have also been practicing yoga for several years and I am currently in my first year at the Evian Energy Yoga School in order to deepen my practice.
My activity is registered in the commercial register and is insured by Médinat.
